Installation
Solid Accounting runs as a native desktop app on Windows, Mac, and Linux. There's no browser tab, no cloud account to create, and no internet connection required for day-to-day work.
System requirements
| Platform | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 or later · 64-bit |
| Mac | macOS 12 (Monterey) or later · Apple Silicon or Intel |
| Linux | 64-bit · .AppImage |
All platforms: 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended), 500 MB disk space.
Getting the installer
Download the installer for your platform from solidaccounting.com/download. The page detects your OS and recommends the right build, but every platform is one click away.
Installing
- Run the installer and follow the prompts. On macOS the app installs to
/Applications; on Windows toProgram Files; on Linux the.AppImageruns in place from anywhere. - Launch the app. The first run shows the license activation screen.
- Paste the license key from your purchase email and click Activate. The app needs an internet connection once to verify the key against the license server. After that, it works offline.
Where your file lives
Solid Accounting stores your books in a single .solid file you choose the location for. By default, new files land in your Documents folder. You can move the file anywhere — external drive, Dropbox/iCloud folder, network share — and the app will find it the next time you open it.
The file is encrypted with your password using SQLCipher. Without the password, the file is just opaque bytes.
