Terms of Service

v1.2.6Effective 2026-05-01· Updated 2026-10-13

Terms of Service

These terms cover using the Solid Accounting website and buying our software ("Solid Accounting," "we," "us," "our" refers to the company that makes Solid Accounting software). Plain English, no tricks. The "Legal Details" section at the bottom has the formal language.

Who can use Solid Accounting

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase or use Solid Accounting. By purchasing, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

Your account

When you buy Solid Accounting, you give us your name and email so we can deliver your license. Keep your login credentials private — you're responsible for anything that happens under your account. If you think someone else has access, let us know immediately at support@solidaccounting.com.

Closing your account

You can close your account by emailing support@solidaccounting.com.

Closing your account ends your access to Solid Accounting. If you want to keep using the version you bought, keep your account open. You don't have to renew Updates & Cloud Services to keep using it. Before you close your account, export anything you need; your company file stays on your computer.

When you close your account:

  • Your license is deactivated. Solid Accounting stops working on your computers the next time it checks your license, and the license can't be activated again
  • Your desktop software stops receiving updates
  • We retain your purchase records for 3 years (tax/legal requirements)
  • Invoicing portal data is deleted per the Payment Service Agreement
  • Support correspondence is retained for 2 years

Buying Solid Accounting

Solid Accounting starts at $349 (Standard tier). Professional and Accountant tiers cost more. All prices are in US dollars.

TierPriceUpdates & Cloud Services (optional, from year 2)
Standard$349$99/year
Professional$499$129/year
Accountant$699$179/year
Additional user+$100 one-time, any tier—

Each license includes named user logins: up to 3 on Standard, up to 5 on Professional, and up to 10 on Accountant. You can add more users for $100 each, one-time, on any tier.

When you buy, you get:

  • A perpetual license key
  • The software download
  • One year of Updates & Cloud Services included

Updates & Cloud Services includes new releases and tax table updates, support, bank feeds (3 bank logins on Standard, 5 on Professional, 10 on Accountant), encrypted cloud backup (3 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB by tier), online invoicing & payments, and the Payroll API. Additional bank logins beyond your tier's allowance are $3 per login per month.

We process payments through Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number.

Prices can change, but if you've already bought a license, your license isn't affected.

Sales tax

You're responsible for any applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST on your purchase. We collect and remit sales tax where legally required.

Updates & Cloud Services

After your included first year, renewing Updates & Cloud Services is optional at the rate listed for your tier:

  • Standard: $99/year
  • Professional: $129/year
  • Accountant: $179/year

Updates & Cloud Services covers new releases and tax table updates, support, bank feeds, encrypted cloud backup, online invoicing & payments, the Payroll API, and AI model updates for on-device AI (coming soon), once it ships and you turn it on.

You can stop renewing at any time. Without Updates & Cloud Services, you keep using the version you bought. New releases, bank feeds, new cloud backups, and online invoicing & payments stop; existing cloud backups stay available to restore.

Updates & Cloud Services does not renew automatically. Auto-renewal is off unless you turn it on yourself in your account. If you turn it on, we'll email you before each renewal, and you can turn it off at any time in your account or by emailing support@solidaccounting.com.

Auto-renewal disclosures

These apply only if you choose to turn on auto-renewal. In compliance with applicable consumer protection laws (including California SB-313 and New York GBL §527-a):

  • What renews: Updates & Cloud Services at the then-current yearly rate for your tier
  • When: At the end of your current Updates & Cloud Services period, then yearly
  • How to cancel: Turn off auto-renewal in your account, email support@solidaccounting.com, or use the cancellation link in your renewal reminder email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • Confirmation: You'll receive an email confirming your enrollment in auto-renewal when you turn it on, and a reminder email at least 30 days before each renewal
  • Consent: By turning on auto-renewal, you affirmatively consent to recurring charges

Refunds

30-day money-back guarantee. A reason is optional. Email support@solidaccounting.com within 30 days of purchase and you get a full refund. Once the refund is processed, your license key is deactivated and your copy stops working.

After 30 days, we'll still consider refunds if you have a documented technical problem our support team can't fix.

Updates & Cloud Services renewal fees are refundable on a prorated basis if you cancel within the first 90 days of a renewal period.

License tiers

Your license key unlocks features based on your tier:

  • Standard ($349) — Up to 3 users.
  • Professional ($499) — Up to 5 users. Everything in Standard, plus the features listed for Professional on our pricing page, including connecting your own AI assistant and the local API.
  • Accountant ($699) — Up to 10 users. Everything in Professional, plus the accountant features listed on our pricing page, such as client management and write-up tools.

The features in each tier are the ones listed on our pricing page when you buy.

Additional users (named user logins) are $100 one-time per user on any tier.

Full license terms are in the EULA.

Legal Details

The sections above describe your rights in plain language. The sections below contain the formal legal terms. Where they overlap, the formal language controls.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE WEBSITE AND SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOLID ACCOUNTING DOES NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE ACCESS TO THE WEBSITE OR SERVICES.

THE SOFTWARE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING, TAX, OR LEGAL ADVICE. SOLID ACCOUNTING MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CALCULATIONS, REPORTS, OR TAX FILINGS GENERATED BY THE SOFTWARE.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL SOLID ACCOUNTING, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE, SOFTWARE, OR SERVICES.

SOLID ACCOUNTING'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SOLID ACCOUNTING IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Solid Accounting and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the website or Software; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any law or third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit through our services.

Termination and Suspension

Solid Accounting may suspend or terminate your account for: (a) material breach of these Terms that remains uncured for 30 days after written notice; (b) non-payment of fees past the applicable grace period; (c) fraud, illegal activity, or abuse (immediate suspension permitted); or (d) if required by law. Upon termination, your desktop software continues to function in offline mode but will not receive updates or connect to online services.

Modification of Terms

Solid Accounting may modify these Terms by providing at least 30 days' prior notice via email to your registered address. Material changes will be clearly identified. Your continued use of Solid Accounting or the website after the effective date of a modification constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you may close your account before the changes take effect.

Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising from these Terms are subject to the arbitration and class action waiver provisions in the EULA, which are incorporated here by reference. If you opted out of arbitration under the EULA, disputes will be resolved in state or federal courts in Delaware.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it later.

Assignment

You may not assign these Terms. Solid Accounting may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets, provided the assignee agrees to honor existing licenses and obligations.

Consumer Protection

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any consumer rights or remedies that cannot be waived or limited by contract under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law, the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), or similar mandatory consumer protection statutes. To the extent any provision conflicts with such mandatory protections, the mandatory protection prevails for the affected provision only.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws principles. This choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections afforded by the laws of your country of residence.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the EULA, Privacy Policy, Payment Service Agreement (if applicable), and Data Processing Agreement (if applicable), constitute the entire agreement between you and Solid Accounting regarding the website and purchase of the Software.
